      Our Calendar:

      Monday: All School Mass

      Tuesday:  Talent show practice after school.

      Wednesday:  We will visit book fare during library. Wear your call to discipleship shirt with jeans.  Hot lunch if pre-paid, please send snack.

      Thursday:  

      Friday:   Show and tell. P.E. uniform.   Spelling test. Box top tag day. Talent show practice.

      PAPER DRIVE!!!  Please send in old magazines and newspapers for our recycle bins! We have 180 Magazines; we need 220 to earn an Ice Cream party.

      Thank You So Much for participating in the Elizabeth house lunch.  Your response was wonderful and appreciated by the homeless women who participate with the shelter.

      We are really working on our reading!  The sight words we should all know by now are the, of, and, to, a, God, Dad, Mom, are, because, at, see, me, I, he, she, like, my, said and was.  Try making flashcards for your kids to practice.  Reread those sight word booklets each day.  Point out the sight words in books you are reading or signs you pass.

      Our spelling tests are going well.  Keep up the good work.  Please remember to do the homework each evening!  Try hanging the newsletter on the fridge so that you can check it each evening.  The newsletter and homework is also posted on the website each Monday.  Click on “Homework” and then “Kindergarten”.  Homework helps to teach responsibility and reinforces what we are learning. 

      We ate up all of our snacks before break!  If you could send in some crackers, that would be wonderful.

      Religion:  Faith and Trust and the rosary.

      Language art:  Review sight words. New sight word  “want” Play Super Speed Words! Spelling!

      Math:  Geometry and fractions!  We will start with shapes.

      Science:  Compost! Our worms are wiggling!

      HOMEWORK:

      Monday:   Write spelling words can, fan, man, pan, and ran.   Read for 15 minutes.

      Tuesday: Write the names and draw pictures for 8 classmates.  Read for 15 minutes.

      Wednesday:  Religion page 46.  Read for 15 minutes.

      Thursday:  Read “want” book to family. Study spelling words.  Review money, and time. 

      Friday:  Take wonderful care of your Mom this weekend! Make your bed and hers too!  J  Read for 30 minutes.

      Commencement is June 7th Tuesday at 9:15 a.m.  The children will go home for the summer after the party at 10:30 a.m.

      Tuesday: Do “Z” page in Word Book. Do one “act of love” and color the egg.  Read for 15 minutes.

      Wednesday:   Religion page.  Do one “act of love” and color the egg.    Read for 15 minutes.

      Thursday:   Read “like” book to family.  Write your spelling words again. Do one “act of love” and color the egg.   Read 15 minutes.

      Friday:  Set the table for dinner J.  Read 30 minutes over the weekend.  Do an “act of love” each day and color the egg.

      Unless we miss another day for snow, Thursday will be our 100th day of school!  We will celebrate all day!  For homework Wednesday night, please help your child count out and bring in 100 of something.  They should be small so that they can carry it here in a baggy.  Please send in safe objects like pennies, legos or something creative. (No matches please)  I also ask that you send in something we can add to our 100’s trail mix (No nuts please).  Ideas would include mini marshmallows, chex, chocolate chips, jelly beans, m&m’s, cheerios, gummies… again I love creativity!

      Next Monday is our Valentines Day party!  When sending valentines, please make sure your child makes one for everyone in the class.  Please send in a shoe box for your child to decorate their own “Mail Box”.

      On February 24th our class, along with 1st grade will go on a field trip!  We are going to the National Aquarium!  I took an orientation class there Saturday that will give us all Free admittance (a savings of 16.95 per person!)  Lunch will be provided.  The cost ($11) covers the bus, lunch and dolphin show! Our chaperone space is limited and the chaperones will need to pay the $11 as well.

      Religion:  Prayer.  We will be talking about the parts of the Mass.

      Language art:  Sight word “come”.  Phonics letter “R”

      Math:  Numbers through 31.  Play Super Speed Math!

      Science:  Weather

KINDERGARTEN HOMEWORK

Our Calendar:

Monday: Mass, Music.

Tuesday: Music, Classroom picture, please wear regular dress uniform.

Wednesday: Hot lunch if pre-ordered.  Please send snack.

Thursday:   Art, 100 DAY!!!!!

Friday: PE, wear gym uniform.  “P” show and tell.

 

Thursday is our 100th day of school!  We have been counting the number in English and Spanish each day thus far!  On Thursday please send in a collection of 100 things, it might be helpful to group them by tens if you can.  These items should be safe for the classroom, No matches please.  Also please send in a food item that we can count 100 of to put in our “100 day trail mix”.  It needs to be peanut free. (mini-marshmallows, skittles, cheerios, checks, gummy bears etc.)  We will be counting ALL day by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s!

 

Our reading unit for the next three weeks will be about neighborhoods.  In conjunction with that we will be learning our Address and phone number.  Please fill out the note card in your child’s folder with the address and phone number you want them to memorize.  We will be sending letters to our friends in our classroom mailboxes.  Please send in a shoe box or two if you have some.(asap)  Thank You so much!

Please point out our sight words in everything you are reading with your children.  Let them read the words they know to you!

           

Language Arts:   Oral vocabulary words: borrow, equipment, frequency, neighborhood, organize.  High-frequency word; are.  We should all be able to read the words I, can. See, we, the, like, A, go, to, have, is, play and want.

Religion:  Jesus is Gods son.

Math:  Chapter 12, Numbers to 100!

Science: Ant Farm!

Social Studies: Answer geography questions.  Neighbors.

 

 

HOMEWORK:

Monday: Read 10 minutes.  Math page.

Tuesday:  Read 10 minutes.  Word book “P”.

Wednesday:  Read 10 minutes.  Discuss vocabulary words (See underlined above) and draw a picture to illustrate one word. Collect 100 of something to bring in. Send in something for “100’s Trail Mix”

Thursday:  Read for 10 minutes.  Read booklet to parent.   Find a show and tell that starts with the letter “P”

Friday:  Read 20 minutes.
