Our
pantry staff will meet again on the first Monday of May,
May 5; to finalize our pantry use guidelines and make sure
we have an up-to-date list of users. (We meet at 7:30 in
the school.) We also plan our June meeting to center on
liaisons. A liaison is a parishioner who keeps in touch
with a family in need, offers encouragement, and makes sure
they are making use of our parish pantry, clothing room,
and other services. Many families have said that this encouragement
is what got them through a tough time. Interested? If so,
please come to our June meeting, June 2nd and learn how
several parishioners are involved in this very worthy work.
We are also looking for a person who might be interested
in trying to get more of our families to use the SHARE program.
On one Friday evening per month, SHARE offers fresh food
through St. John's Episcopal Church on Route 1 in Beltsville
for a very small fee. We would love to get some of out pantry
users hooked into this system, but we would need some help
with that to get the program off the ground. Interested?
If so, please come to our next meeting, May 5 and we can
work on that, too. (TOP)
PANTRY
NEEDS
Thanks to your tremendous response
to Pope Benedict’s Hunger to Hope campaign, we have
a huge supply of food donations at this time. As our storage
space is limited and we must observe the expiration dates
on our current food products, we request that for the next
few months you refrain from donating food items. However,
we would appreciate donations of Giant and CVS gift cards
and paper, personal and household products such as paper
towels, bathroom tissue, Kleenex, shampoo, face soap, deodorant,
toothpaste, detergents and household cleaners. Your donations
may be left in the Altar Server Sacristy at any time. Thank
you again for wonderful generosity!
