The mission of St. Joseph's Regional Catholic School is to cooperate with families, who are the primary educators, in forming the whole child in the Christian faith. With Christ and his teachings as our foundation, we create an environment of prayer (ora), study (stude), work (labora) and play (lude) providing each child with the opportunity to grow in all areas of his or her life.

History of St. Joseph's School
St. Joseph's Catholic School was officially opened in September of 1963 with 289 students and four teachers (2 lay, 2 religious sisters). Sister Margarette Edward was the founding principal and was a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur religious community. Class sizes were upwards of 61 per class and tuition costs were $60.00 per child.
A large addition to the school and the convent building were constructed and dedicated in 1967. In 1970, the Notre Dame de Namur Sisters withdrew from St. Joseph's Parish and in 1972, Sister Georgene Faust took over as the third principal. That same year, St. Joseph's began its award winning band program.
The first Pre-Kindergarten class was accepted in 1979. Mr. Thomas Moran served St. Joseph's Catholic School as the fourth principal from 1987 to 1998 and went on to serve as the interim Superintendant of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Washington.
In 2010, St. Joseph's transitioned into a Regional school serving St. Nicholas (Laurel), St. Hugh of Grenoble (Greenbelt), and
St. Joseph Parishes. The project was a product of close collaboration between parish communities and pastoral leadership with guidance from Father J. Michael Quill, the Canonical Administrator, Father Walter Tappe, pastor of St. Hugh of Grenoble, and Father Andrew Betz, pastor of St. Nicholas.

Persistent Issues with Links
We are currently working on the link to the page that provides directions to our school (for immediate access to that page, please visit www.stjos.org/parish/school/directions.html . While the links to our calendar of events and the parish church function on this page, they are not operable in others. Please know that we are working on the problem and invite you to try that link again later. Thank you.
