Multicultural Night! |
Welcome to First Grade! My main goal for the year is for all first graders to become proficient or advanced readers. Another major goal is for all first graders to become proficient in the mathematical process through problem solving, reasoning, and strategies. Basic math concepts that will be stressed are addition, subtraction, time (hour and 1/2 hour), graphs and charts, geometry (plane and solid figures), and probability. |

Handwriting (three line printing) will be practiced daily. In addition to completion of the required Religion curriculum, love and respect for God and for others will be incorporated into everything done in the classroom. Through "Family Corner", children are required to discuss daily religion lessons with their families and return the signed page as part of their religion grade. Children will work and play every day. They will learn that there is a time for both. I will strive to build their confidence through creating opportunities for them to share and interact, using fun and creative games, dance and academics. **My personal goal is for all first graders to develop a love for God, learning, and for each other through their contact with me. I believe that it is my responsibility to strive to serve as a model for all of these qualities. My experience has taught me that children should be viewed and treated as individuals in a group. They need structure, consistency, discipline and kindness. They should love coming to school. They should adore and respect their teachers.
