Mission Saint Joseph's School is a co-educational Catholic school with approximately 220 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through eight. The goal of the pastor, principal, faculty and staff is to develop and extend in cooperation with the families, the foundations of education, which are begun at home. By creating a Catholic Christian environment of prayer, study, work and play, the school provides each child with the opportunity to grow in all areas of his or her life- spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical - as an individual and as a member of the community. |

Here's How SUCCESS Powers our Vision at St. Joseph's School! Welcome to St. Joseph's Parish School where our aim is facilitating students' safety and achievement by creating a “SUCCESS acronym” - Sculpting the Ultimate Christ-Centered Educational Success Story. Providing, for all children, a spiritually-rich growth experience for the vital first nine years of school is, therefore, the focal point of all we try to do, and Christ is the “sine qua non” of every academic, artistic, athletic, and social endeavor. The priority of passing on the teachings of Christ to our children, and nourishing them by the sacraments, gives purpose to our planning and commitment on behalf of students. We also pledge to collaborate with parents so our faith-based scholastic community is accessible to, and aligned with, each family to promote a relationship in which home and school mirror the same values and goals. Our school and parish as a microcosm, reflect the mission of the Archdiocese of Washington, which guides all activities in the school and shapes the allocation of our resources accordingly. Our commitment to fulfilling the Christ-centered potential of the “whole child,” and developing that “whole person” was pivotal in guiding our choice of a Renaissance theme for this school year, and intensifying our emphasis on the Venn intersection of mathematics, science and technology in the academic curriculum. Our yearly goals will always include exceeding the standards set by schools in parallel systems in both our core curriculum and our spectrum of enrichment offerings. Over the next five years, our plans encompass not only the addition and renovation of facilities, resources and delivery of instruction in the Math, Science and Technology triad, but also the addition of Spanish to the schedule, and the implementation of “Writing Across the Curriculum.” That last initiative promises to provide a linking of critical thinking and written expression in every content area in the academic curriculum, and prepares our children to articulate complex ideas according to the standards of demanding high schools and colleges. Implied as an integral part of every scholastic process is a continuous scrutiny that seeks to promote improvement. That process of continual review assumes a potential for enhanced educational planning and delivery of instruction through a judicious application of administrative supervision, opportunities for professional development, and the pursuit of advanced degrees/graduate courses from accredited collegiate institutions. Interwoven throughout those foci, is the ambiance that we seek to foster in every encounter that takes place at St. Joseph's. That aura of Christian charity extends far beyond the instructional integrity that is the foundation atmosphere in every classroom, and includes all interactions between students and teachers, administrators and parents. “Caritas” bestows a dignity on every encounter that seeks to see Christ in each person who enters St. Joseph's, no matter what his station or role in life may be. So, welcome to St. Joseph's School, a Christ-centered learning environment where individual growth is the lynchpin to collective excellence and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in the service of the St. Joseph's Parish community.
