A native Washingtonian, attended Mount Calvary parish and school in Forestville Maryland, graduated from Bowie State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education, with a special education minor, received a Masters in Divinity from Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg MD. Monsignor Chimiak has been ordained 34 years and has been pastor at: St. Michael’s in Ridge Maryland, Holy Ghost in Issue Maryland, Sacred Heart in La Plata Maryland, St. George in Valley Lee Maryland and presently assigned at St. Joseph church in Beltsville Maryland February 2014. In 2005 Father Chimiak was elevated by (Saint) Pope J John Paul II, Monsignor, Chaplain to the Holy Father. Monsignor is a retired Chaplain Colonel, United States Air Force serving 26 years including being mobilized during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He has been a Police Chaplain for the Maryland State Police (19 years), Maryland State Transportation Authority Police (10 years Charles county Sheriff Office, St. Mary’s Sheriff office, La Plata Police Departments. He will be very shortly named as Catholic chaplain the to the Prince Georges Police department, District 6, Beltsville. Monsignor is also a fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and serves as an Assoc. State Chaplain, special Liaison to the Cardinal’s office, District Friar, Archdiocese of Washington and member of the Prince George’s council in Beltsville.
Father Wimmer has increased his involvement in the Sacramental ministry and other activities of the parish. He continues his work as professor, editor, and author. He received degrees from Villanova University, Catholic University, Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, Gregorian University, Rome. He has published numerous articles, including in The Catholic Biblical Quarterly and The Word Among Us.
Msgr. is a native of the Philippines. He greatly assists in the care of his sick mother, who is a member of our parish. He ministers to Filipino Catholics throughout the Archdiocese. He is also involved in the Sacramental ministry, school and activities of the parish. He received degrees at University of Santo Tomas Central Seminary and De la Salle University. He has served as the Vicar General and Chancellor, Diocese of Antipolo, Pastor, School Director and Installed Papal Chaplain (Msgr.).
FATHER NICK MUENKS
Father Nick is special ministry to Faith Formation.
Deacon Chris Schwartz was ordained to the Deaconate June of 2010. For many years, he has been extensively involved in Prison Ministry in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He served in our parish music ministry in the 1970’s from the mid 1970´s to the mid 1990´s. He routinely visits the sick. and is involved in the Liturgical life of the parish. He conducts Baptisms, wakes and (non-Mass) Weddings within the parish. He also works full time for the Federal government. He and his wife Pam have been active parishioners in the parish for over 35 years.
Mr. Warren Taylor, a graduate of the Education for Parish Service Program, is our parish Sacristan. He is responsible for the effective preparation of each Liturgical celebration. With his wife Rose, he oversees the liturgical books, the vestments, and other things necessary in the celebration of the Sacraments. He coordinates the various Liturgical ministries and oversees the physical environment of our church. Most of what you see in our parish Worship is due to his thoughtful planning and preparation.
Laurel Montoya, a wife and mother of three children; is the Director of Religious Education (DRE) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She also teaches Middle school Religion at the parish school, helping her serve as liaison between school and parish. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico in 1995. Her teaching experience began at Queen of Heaven Elementary School in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the 1995-1996 school year. She expanded her experience by working with the Human Ecology Department at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. While teachign early childhood education from 1996-1999, she earned a Master’s Degree in early childhood education from Salisbury State University in 1998. She has been with St. Joseph’s School since August, 2000.
Ms. Marie Bohorfoush works as part of our front office team. She composes the weekly Bulletin, schedules events, coordinates with the school, tracks contributions, and oversees the smooth administrative functioning of the parish. She is originally from Alabama, a Maronite Catholic and an active and involved parishioner in most aspects of parish life. With her husband, she is also involved in the Knights of Columbus.
